Elegant stepped profile with ogee curve. Traditional American colonial style.
Tall, flat-faced board with simple bevel at top. Arts & Crafts movement style.
Clean 90-degree edges. Minimalist contemporary look.
Tall, ornate profile with multiple curves and details. Period-accurate for historic homes.
Ramps down from a thicker floor to a thinner one (e.g., hardwood to vinyl).
Bridges two floors of equal height at a doorway. T-shaped cross section.
Finishes a floor edge where it meets a step-down, fireplace, or sliding door.
Sits in doorways between rooms. Covers the joint and provides a clean transition.
Covers the edge of stair treads. Flush or overlap styles available.
Understanding Trim
Floor Trim
Baseboards, quarter round, shoe moulding, and transitions. These cover expansion gaps and create a polished junction between floor and wall. Material choice ranges from painted MDF ($0.40/LF) to solid oak ($4.00/LF).
Wall Trim
Chair rail, panel moulding, wainscoting, picture rail, and door/window casings. Wall trim adds dimension, protects walls, and defines architectural style — from colonial to contemporary.
Crown Moulding
The hallmark of a finished room. From simple 2.5" coves to grand 6" Georgian profiles, crown moulding transforms ceiling-wall junctions into architectural statements.
